Laser cut card designs

These are my Laser Cut card designs that I completed in my cad module. I am happy with the floral designs as I could see them being used in a real life gift wrap and stationary designs.I feel that the neutral colour palette works very well and the central composition on each of the cards works well in he square format.
Ideally I would have liked to have done a coloured design and made some gift tags too but this is something I will look to do in the future.

Scarf designs printed on fabric

My designs have finally been printed onto fabric, they still need to be pressed and hemmed, but I am overwhelmed with the outcome.
The colours look so much more vibrant on this fabric, and it's amazing to see my designs come to life. Wow!

Arthropod design colour ways

These are the colour way options for my favourite scarf design: Arthropod.
kingfisher
droplet
bloom
nightfall
I am very happy with all of the colour way options and i am happy that I chose kingfisher as the design to be printed and i feel that the blue background stands out against the orange border, and blend with the blue mid-tones between the flowers

Apium scarf design colour ways

These are the colour way options I have created for the Apium scarf design.
macaroon
cream soda
citrus rind
powder room
I selected Macaroon to be printed onto fabric and I feel the turquoise background ties everything together and really gives the scarf a feel of spring/ summer.
I love all of the colour way options for this scarf and found it very hard to choose the final colour way to be printed.

Business cards

These are the first draft print outs of the business I am currently designing to brandmyself as a designer.
I love the design I have picked as it is one of my own, and feel that the colour option i have select works very well.
I do feel that the text is a little hard to read and think I will be changing this in the future.

New England Interiors - work placement

This week I have been working at an interior design company in Gosforth.
Whilst there I have had some amazing experiences, visiting clients homes to invision their interior design style and looking through the amazing sample books that they hold at the store.
I was also able to help put together a display window in the week that I was there, although it wasn't entirely finished when i left, this is what was put together. The intention was for a unisex bedroom for a child.

Final Scarf Designs

So I'm coming to the end of my liberty scarf module and I am completely happy with the final designs I have made. I feel they express the original trend that I set for myself of bugs and florals. I feel that i have created two entirely different scarves, for different seasons that the customer would be willing to purchase both. I have named the designs Arthropod and Apium based on latin words relating to insects as I feel it gives a luxurious label to my products.
I am very happy with each of the colour palettes for each scarf as i feel that the colours work very well together. The arthropod design, the design on the bottom is my favourite as I love the border and the amount of deatil in the design. I also love the beetle and the geometrics in the centre.

Spring/ Summer scarf palette

Today I was able to create my Spring/Summer Palette for my scarf designing module. I found this picture online and instantly fell in love with the combination of colours. I'm really enjoying making colour palettes at the moment, especially coming up with names for each colour. I just can't wait to inject these colours in to my designs and really make them come to life.

Using Watercolours again

It's been a while since I've used watercolours; I got some new ones and so I was excited to use them.
I've focused my paintings on the flowers I photographed at the botanic gardens I visited. I love the colours and the brush strokes in my work. I tried to paint using the shape of my brushes.

My own Autumn-Winter colour palette

After yesterdays workshop I just couldn't wait. I picked out some images i loved and created my own palette from them, I think these colours would look really great on and autumn collection scarf, so I will be using it for my current module. The hardest part was probably picking a name for each colour, but it was a lot of fun and I am entirely happy with what I have managed to come up with

Colour Palette Workshop

Today I took part in a colour palette workshop. After studying the colour wheel carefully we had to create a colour palette based in an image that we were given. This is what I created. I love all of the different tones and shades i have managed to pick out. It was also my first time naming my own colours. This has given me some serious inspiration to start creating a colour palette for my own project.

Bumble bee

Here's another drawing based on a bee that I photographed at the local Hancock museum. I love the Florals inside of the wings and feel like this design is really going to tie in with the florals I intend to bring into my designs too.

Drawing insects begins

Today I started drawing for my new module, for scarf designs. From research I have conducted, I am trying to draw in a "tattoo style". I have drawn a moth from some of my own imagery, but I have made it quite stylized through the use of patterns and shapes inside of the wings, I can't wait to put it into a pattern and add some colour.

The Hancock Museum

Because I want to include some insect drawings in my new scarf designs module, the Hancock Museum in Newcastle was the perfect place to visit in order to photograph some insects; they have butterflies in boxes and others on pins inside of cabinets. I managed to get some great images and they for a great basis for my primary research that i can draw from.

Edinburgh Botanical Gardens

For my new scarf designing modules, I have been highly inspired by insects and florals. So for part of my research I took a trip to Edinburgh Botanic Gardens and it was amazing. I was able to look around each of the glass buildings looking at all of the beautiful, exotic flowers and plants. I took lots of photographs to draw from and had a great time.
